Ray’s bone marrow aspirate went well and now he’s back home. He’ll be a bit sore for a few days, but hopefully no other problems. We get to sleep in our own beds tonight! That’s a really good thing as I did not get much sleep last night. Nights like that were hard 20 years ago, but the older I get the harder they are to recoup from.
As of now it looks like he’ll be readmitted May 30th or 31st for the start of Gene Therapy. That admission is expected to last for at least a month. I know there are times when I’ll have to be there to support him, but I’m also going to need to be back and forth to home some days and nights as well and will have to leave him in the care of the nurses there. Despite him being 23 years old, turning over any of that control is going to be very hard for me.
