I knew Fairfax County had a  program to loan smoke detectors to individuals who are hearing impaired, but I never got around to following up on the program.  I finally did it though.  Here’s the info for the Fairfax County Hearing Impaired Smoke Alarm Program.  The smoke detector is sent by the county to your local fire department, who then not only delivers it, but installs it as well.  They were even kind enough to come after school so Ray could be here when they arrived.  Ever since we watched my neighbor’s house burn to the ground last year, we have learned to be more fire safety conscious!
